You can’t escape it – the neon trend for this upcoming spring is everywhere. While Chicago temperatures are still in the mid-40s, diverting from the fact that April has in fact arrived, the Spring 2012 runways illustrated a massive explosion of color, tropical prints and most importantly, the introduction of neon in our daily life as never before. Designers such as Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Peter Som and Rodarte highlighted the use of neon colors in typical sportswear separates, elevating them to a new level.

As per the usual mix of celebrities and high fashion, neon pink has become one of the strongest colors in both everyday and red carpet styles. Beyoncé rocked the trend in a casual look, wearing a Michael Kors cashmere sweater and an Etro maxi skirt (looking atypically fabulous for a new mom), while Jennifer Lopez and Brooklyn Decker chose the same Michael Kors hot pink standout gown. These women all demonstrate the actual wearability of the loud shade – now the next step is to incorporate it into daily campus life. Maybe subtly through a lipstick shade, pair of shoes, or handbag; or, for the daring, a red carpet-style maxi dress. Don’t you want to dress like a star?
