My Top Five Spring 2024 Essentials

If you are as indecisive as Evanston’s weather patterns when it comes to fashion, look no further than a couple of these Spring staples for an easy, put together outfit.

1. Trench Coat

Unable to keep up with Evanston’s weather patterns? Neither can I! A trench coat is the perfect addition to your closet to keep you warm from chilly winds while allowing for breathability as it starts to heat up. A trench coat is also a fantastic way to keep you dry during storms.

Style Suggestion: For an elevated look for class, pair a trench coat with a basic white tee and medium-wash denim. To accessorize, feel free to add any fun jewelry, but I love gold hoops or pearls to keep it simple. Baseball hats can add a sporty element to the look too.

2. Button Down

A personal favorite of mine, the button-down can be a great layering piece and a fantastic basic. When it's feeling a little windy outside, grab your button-down and place it on top of your favorite tank top. Or, feeling like having a quick dip in the lake? Throw your button-down on top of your favorite bathing suit.

Style Suggestion: Wear a button-down on top of cream linen trousers for a Scandinavian-inspired look. Buy or thrift a button-down with a spring color, such as pink, for a sweeter look.

3. Tote Bag

As warm weather rolls around and heavy coats start to make their way back into storage, pull out your favorite tote bag. Without coats preventing the bag from staying on your shoulder, we can invite in tote bags for class.

Style Suggestion: For a more fun outfit, match any tote you are wearing with the color of your sneakers. Let the rest of your outfit be a completely different color for a look with a pop.

4. Cropped Cardigan

A cropped cardigan is an amazing way to add a pop of color to your otherwise simple outfits. When your classes are cold, but it’s warm outside, look no further than a cardigan.

Style Suggestion: A cardigan draped over your shoulders can be a really cute accessory over a basic white tee and jeans. A strapless white top with only the top button of the cardigan buttoned can be a warm, but breezy look

5. Denim Midi Skirts

Denim midi skirts are a fun way to incorporate a closet staple, jeans, with a new silhouette. They are super comfortable to wear to class and let you stay cool throughout the day.

Style Suggestion: I would dress up the skirt with the incorporation of a thin leather belt and a fitter white tee. Then, add on a fitted jacket that matches your belt such as a black or leather jacket.
