Dream Collab Alert: Hunter x Target

For Target-loving Northwestern students, the grand opening of a store in downtown Evanston (walking distance from campus!) is not the only recent source of Target-mania. On March 1st, Hunter announced that it was partnering with Target for a collection of over 300 products— including shoes, apparel and home goods. This latest fashion designer and mass market retailer collaboration is ideal for college students or fans of the British brand acting on a budget. Seeing as Hunter’s tall women’s rain boots, their most popular product, are usually an expensive $150, the promise of these fashion staples for only $40 at Target is almost too good to be true. In saving over $100 of valuable tuition money, it is now even easier for students to justify buying boots that can only be worn about 10 times in Chicago’s fairly dry climate. However, sadly, when the collection was released on April 14th, most of the items were either delayed for restocking or were quickly sold out. Unless you were one of the few who managed to cop a pair in-store, the tall boots are no longer available as part of the Target collection. However, don’t let your dreams of dressing like British royalty die; the collection still features sneakers, jackets, rompers, tops and bottoms to dress for the rainy day of your dreams. Although the collection is not yet sold at our newest downtown Evanston location, a quick trip on the Northwestern Shop-n-Ride shuttle will take you to the Target on Howard Street where you can purchase these fantastic pieces. From the comfort of your own bed, you can also shop online until June 14th while supplies last. With these affordable and chic all-weather articles of Hunter clothing, channeling your inner NU princess Meghan Markle has never been easier.

High Top Sneakers:

Hunter’s stand-out black and white high top sneakers are the perfect rival to Converse for a cold, rainy day outfit. They even feature a rubber sole to keep you prepared in the case of unforeseen snow or an early morning slip on the ice outside of your lecture hall. These sneakers are a fairly affordable $40, especially compared with similar sneaker options available through Hunter for up to $120. Just pair these cute kicks with leggings and a sweater to successfully and stylishly take on a rainy school day.

Windbreaker:

This blue and white colorblock jacket is the epitome of trendy athleisure. Plus, it is functional enough to protect you from the brutal Lake Michigan winds on a day spent at the Lakefill. At $40, this windbreaker is both an ideal and affordable way to Sporty Spice up a LBD.

Romper:

Hunter’s utilitarian tie-waist romper is both on-trend and the perfect spring outfit. Pair this stylish $35 army green romper with some matching booties (preferably your own, as the Hunter boots similar to the model’s are up to $150!) to complete this classic monochromatic look—or pair with a denim jacket and strappy sandals for a comfortable walk to an afternoon class.

Athletic Shorts:

To serve looks during your next SPAC workout, make sure to cop these navy and yellow Hunter athletic shorts for only $25! Although they are no Lululemon, these affordable shorts are both functional and cute enough to throw on for a tough workout or just a quick late-night walk to a friend’s dorm.

Yellow Raincoat:

The yellow raincoat, my personal favorite piece from the collection, is the perfect combination of the style icons that are the Morton Salt girl, Paddington Bear and Coraline. This bright jacket is functional, adorable, and now, affordable too. As similar yellow raincoats can cost up to $100, this $45 hooded jacket is seriously a steal. As it is not eligible for shipping and only available at the Chicago Near North Target, I definitely recommend taking the train and making a day of exploring the nearby neighborhoods of Roscoe Village, Wicker Park and Lincoln Park after buying matching Hunter rain jackets with your best friends. Although it doesn’t rain frequently in Evanston, this statement jacket can always be worn with jeans and a lace top – even on a sunny day – for a stand-out spring look.
