STITCH's Guide to Updating Your Look

A few days ago, my older sister began complaining about how she was tired of her look. For as long as I can remember, she has had the same medium length brown hair and simple makeup routine. She had considered a new hairstyle or another piercing on multiple occasions, but she was hesitant.  She wasn’t ready for anything too drastic. All she needed was a simple, quick way to update her look. So, she decided to buy an ear cuff to try out a potential cartilage piercing. This wasn’t a major change, but she liked the idea of trying something new.

This is a dilemma that many college students face. On a college budget and schedule, it can be difficult to find ways to switch up your appearance. Often, we don’t have time to get our hair cut and  we don’t want to spend money on new accessories. Here are some easy and accessible solutions that will be sure to give you that fun, exciting look you crave.

1.     If you’re considering getting a piercing, but aren’t ready to commit, an ear cuff is perfect. Ear cuffs are cute, inexpensive, and give the illusion of a piercing. This trend will allow you to test out a potential new look without making a drastic change.

2.     Lately, many women have been chopping off their long locks in favor of a shorter cut. If you’re possibly  considering the lob look, you should try the “faux bob.” This is a fast and easy way to try out shorter hair without actually changing anything. Check out the tutorial below.

3.     Another big beauty trend is thick, bushy eyebrows. Inspired by the iconic Cara Delevingne look, many people are letting their dark eyebrows grow out. This trend is a great way to bring out your eyes and spice up your everyday makeup routine. If you’re not ready to go full on Cara, you may want to try an eyebrow pencil. Filling in your brows will give the illusion of fuller brows in a quick, harmless way.

4.     A simple way to add life to your look is with a bright lip. If you’re bored with your normal makeup routine, a new lip color is the perfect way to add a little style and flair.
