The last time I wore heart-shaped sunglasses, I was five. They were red and I wore them with a pale pink dress with a lace collar. In the photo I look adorable, bouncing around my backyard…but I’m sure if I wore them now I would look borderline ridiculous.

In the past few years, I’ve seen more and more pairs of heart-shaped sunglasses cropping up, particularly in Topshop. I’ve even seen people wearing them around—but usually to channel a vintage pin-up girl look. So when I first saw this young woman’s photo on The Sartorialist during New York Fashion Week, I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least: I would totally wear that jacket (not to mention the Chanel 2.55), and the heart-shape actually flatters her face. Even if you don’t plan on buying a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses anytime soon, consider incorporating unconventional pieces into your everyday outfits. In fashion, anything goes.
