Although he’s been on hiatus since the end of winter quarter, the Campus Chalker is back and here to stay! In fact, I had the privilege of accompanying him on a little chalking project last night. Having recently switched his major from chemistry to art history, his campus presence has been focused on his studies and personal artwork. Right now, he’s collaborating with a few friends on curating an exhibition of street art. Like an artist, he seeks inspiration from everything in his life. It’s no wonder that his sense of artistic wonder seeps into how he dresses–and he does happen to be a well-dressed individual.
Major: Art history
Your style in five words: grungy, relaxed, hobo, dapper and unrefined
Favorite wardrobe piece: My wrinkled blazers. It’s what I wear when I want to wear something.
Guilty pleasures: Sleep, and putting lots of sugar in my coffee
Favorite trend: Right now, I really like cuffed jeans.
Least favorite trend: the Northface, tights and Uggs look.
Current obsessions: Tempera paint, Bugler rolling tobacco
On your playlist: Wye Oak, the Black Keys, Andrew Bird, Ezra Furman, the Black Forties, Of Monsters and Men, the Canoes and Minor Characters
Man crush: Matt Berninger of The National
Go-to movie: Dead Poets Society
Favorite artist (and no, it’s not Banksy): Morris Lewis
Icons: Jackson Pollack, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel before she started doing New Girls
In 10 years…I hope to be living in Wicker Park or Europe, in a city or maybe a cabin in the woods, being a curator or a teacher or a gallery owner. And still making art, of course.
