Just as football players tearfully announce their trip to Disney World after winning a Super Bowl, I will happily announce my impending Saks Fifth Avenue trip to anyone willing to listen after I receive my first big check from my first grown-up job. Of course this will come after securing a place to live, a car, and paying off student loans. There are some specific items—like a Cartier Love bracelet or a pair of Jimmy Choos—that will cement my ascendance into the realm of adulthood and send a resounding “I made it” to the world.
