Just because pantsuits are the ubiquitous staple of politicians’ wardrobes doesn’t mean fashion and politics can’t mix! While I’m not predicting that high couture will be sweeping Congress anytime soon, President Obama is taking the first baby steps towards a more fashionable America.
As a part of his 2012 campaign for reelection, Obama is raising funds by releasing his very own patriotic nail polish trio. I, too, was skeptical at first, but it’s truly a great method for Obama to gather small donations while connecting with his younger supporters. This set of brilliant ruby, pure white and navy blue polishes, designed by Richard Blanch of Le Métier de Beauté, actually appears quite promising.
The nail polishes are cleanly packaged in bottles etched with Obama’s “hope” crest and come packaged in a similarly decorated black pouch. At $40, the price is steep, but if you’re an Obama supporter, think of the possibilities – not just for nail art, but for the next four years.
