Next Tuesday, Oct.11, join the Alliance Française of Chicago in celebrating the couture house Yves Saint-Laurent’s 50th anniversary and be inspired by the label that revolutionized female fashion.

Laurent Cotta, a Parisian art and fashion historian and museum curator, will explain the dichotomy of YSL’s aesthetic: classicism and transgression. Cotta, an artist in his own right, designed an exhibit at the renowned Parisian department store Galleries Lafayette for the 60th birthday of ELLE Magazine. He is also a regular lecturer at the French Fashion Institute.

If you’d rather celebrate in the comfort of your home, rent the new documentary L’amour Fou on iTunes. This tribute to Yves Saint-Laurent explores the seductive couture and secret life of the man behind the brand.
