I’m an obvious sucker for Madewell — a lower price point with all of the charm and function of J. Crew? Sign me up. Their most recent advertising campaign put a unique spin on their styling of the spring line, enlisting four of its own employees to cook up their own quirky looks (see STITCH’s take on it here). This time around, Madewell has joined other retailers like Free People and Coach in using a marketing ploy that has become the new big thing with brands: bloggers.
Fashionistas from five different blogs signed on to choose their spring picks from Madewell: Piera Gelardi from Refinery29, Noria Morales from FABSUGAR, Izzy Grinspan from Racked, Lilliam Rivera, Tasha Nita Adams and Christina von Messling from Mondette, and Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere. Not only does this spark the interest of the label’s usual following, but it gathers extra publicity for the company through the various blogs themselves. A win for Madewell, a win for the bloggers, and let’s face it—a win for the rest of us. The choices are indeed the best of the spring line (the cashmere Ex-boyfriend sweater and Fernwood dress are definite musts), but the bloggers also offer their own reasons for choosing them and suggestions for styling. Madewell’s embrace of the blogosphere results in a quirky collaboration that’s too good to miss.

Correction: Noria Morales is from FABSUGAR, not Mondette.com. Lilliam Rivera, Tasha Nita Adams and Christina von Messling are from Mondette.com.

Deanna,
Thanks for the post mentioning Madewell and Mondette! I just wanted to clarify that Noria Morales is from Fabsugar, and the Mondette team is Lilliam Rivera, Christina von Messling, and (me!) Tasha Nita Adams.
Thanks again.
best,
Tasha
