The fashion world loves a good brow. When Brooke Shield hit the map in the early ’90s designers and directors alike couldn’t get enough of her piercing blue eyes, modelesque build, and striking brows. While the majority of women need a sculpted brow to shape their face, there are those lucky few who can call attention to their perfect bone structure with a bushy brow and little else.
Newcomer Bambi Northwood-Blyth would be one of those women. As fashion’s newest darling, Bambi has managed to accomplish a lot in her 19 short years. Beginning her modeling career in her native Melbourne, Australia, Bambi soon made headlines when word got out that she was dating Ksubi founder Dan Single. After moving to the States to further her career, she was signed to Elite Models New York and debuted on the Spring 2011 runways, walking for Jen Kao, Rag and Bone, Diesel, Channel and Balenciaga (pretty impressive for a newbie). In addition she’s worked for the likes of Giles, Topshop Unique, and Loewe, to name a few.
When I first came across Bambi in an editorial for Harper’s Bazaar Australia I was immediately struck by her hybrid Brooke Shields/Kate Moss look; a crossbreed that can only spell a future of super-stardom. At only 5’ 7″(relatively small for the modeling world and relatively tall for the real-world) Bambi makes up for her petite stature with a unique look and distinct personality. When asked by an interviewer for The Cut to say “something random and totally weird” she responded with, ”I don’t smoke dope, chew rope, dance, prance, romance, fight, fuck, shoot, or drive a truck.” I’m not quite sure what that means, but the girl definitely has spunk. For her unique look, winning personality, and for inspiring us to skip a few waxing sessions, she’s our Model of the Moment.
