SUMMER MOVIE RUNDOWN
Even though we still have two weeks of school looming, summer movie season has officially started (and for the rest of the world, it actually is summer, so perhaps this makes sense). Summer movies are the best, and this year’s lineup will make them even better.
PRINCE HARRY: SOME GOOD OL’ FASHIONED INTERNET STALKING
While news of the Royal Family might be better filed under “Culture” than “Entertainment,” stalking Prince Harry certainly counts as amusement to me! The redheaded royal recently spent a week touring the United States, so it was a good week for virtual Harry sightings: below, the must-see Prince Harry moments.
BRACE YOURSELF: NEXT YEAR’S TV RENEWALS AND CANCELLATIONS
While season finales are only just rolling out, many major networks are already deciding the fate of your favorite shows and characters for next fall. There’s guaranteed to be a cliffhanger in the next couple of weeks – but will you ever see it resolved?
A SOUNDTRACK GREATER THAN GATSBY
Jay-Z, Beyonce, Fergie, Lana Del Ray, will.i.am., Florence + The Machine, Emelie Sandé, Gotye, Jack White, and Sia – certainly the only thing that could possibly improve The Great Gatsby soundtrack would be Leonardo DiCaprio crooning a love song directly for me.
THE MYSTERY OF LOCHTE (JEAH?)
So it’s possible that I used blogging as an excuse to watch the pilot of E!’s new reality show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, but I’m not ashamed. How can a man that seems so idiotic be so successful?
PARKS AND REC MERCH: BUY-YOUR-SWAG
I dearly miss the infant days of my Parks and Recreation obsession. When I had seasons one through four ahead of me on Netflix, and I could watch three, four (okay, maybe five) episodes in a row.
LOOKIN’ GOOD: BELLA THORNE AT THE VMAS
Honestly, I’m not completely sure who Bella Thorne is (further research indicates that she's a Disney Channel starlet, so look for her in excessively raunchy films in about five years!), but she nailed the look at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.
PRINCESS MIA: DESTINED FOR GREATNESS
She may have been a bit frumpy in the beginning … But I’ve always known that our winsome heroine Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi, Princess of Genovia, was destined for greatness. She has a natural talent for donning resplendent gowns … Men can’t help falling in love with her effervescent smile … Her ability to charm...
OPI’S EURO CENTRALE
I’m always excited by nail polish, but sometimes OPI’s collections are downright silly. Selena Gomez-inspired polish? Really? Or the Nicki Minaj collection? I could do without that lime-Gatorade hue. But after a series of mistakes, OPI has finally hit the mark with their Euro Centrale collection. Shades inspired by cosmopolitan cities—that’s something I can stand...
STEAL HER LOOK: VIOLA DAVIS AT THE SAG AWARDS
Amidst dozens of glamorous gold, white, and navy gowns at Sunday’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, actress Viola Davis’ floor-length turquoise dress took home the grand prize. It was a little bit daring and a lot fun, with folds of light sea-blue fabric fit for a goddess. Recreate the look at home with this playful vintage...
TRENDING: CHIFFON BLOUSES
Shopping in January is always confusing. It’s ten degrees outside, but the shelves are stacked high with flirty shorts and deep v-neck tees. Stores may believe spring is just around the corner, but we Chicagoans know better. However, that doesn’t mean by mid-January I’m not itching for a softer color palette and an escape from...
WINTER BREAK READS
Only one more week until winter break, and then you can finally toss aside your thick textbooks and copies of Anna Karenina in exchange for soft paperbacks. Just one more week and you’ll be tanning in the sun, or maybe cozying up next to a fireplace in a hand-knit afghan, reading one of these wonderful...
